Sunday Thoughts

Perhaps inspired by the below post, as well as the Chicago-San Francisco halftime score, I've decided to try something new and have a weekly "Sunday Thoughts" blog where all the commentary will go into the comments section.

If it works out well, maybe we will open the comments section to everybody next week as we can't watch every single game at the same time.

So with that... away we go!

David Carr Season QB Rating: 97.9
David Carr Today: 42.4

Enter Sandman said...

And... David Carr is immediately replaced by S. Rosenfels.

Rosenfels first pass? Intercepted. Go Texans!

Enter Sandman said...

So Tampa Bay's Gradkowski just completed a pass and recovered the receiver's fumble. I wonder when the last time a QB recovered his own WR's fumble was.

Enter Sandman said...

Kansas City with 4th and 1 at the Seattle 34... Let's see if they will be idiotic and punt it away.

Enter Sandman said...

And nope. Larry Johnson = beast.

Enter Sandman said...

Speaking of beasts, the Chicago Bears are currently on an 8:00 minute, 82 yard drive that has yet to end.

Enter Sandman said...

Whoa. SF comes up with a defensive stop for the second time today!

The reward for their hard work: ball at their own 1 yard line.

Laser Stream said...

Sage Rosenfels passed to Owen Daniels to the left for 1 yard gain (Kris Brown missed PAT)

Who to whom? And a missed PAT!!

Enter Sandman said...

Anyways, the Niners' comeback has begun! 31 points to go!

Enter Sandman said...

So... in about 20 minutes the game that everyone has been looking forward to will begin!

And instead of showing this battle of two teams with a combined 11-1 record, CBS has decided to treat Bay Area viewers to... the Oakland Raiders!

Charming.

Enter Sandman said...

And Philadelphia loses again.

Enter Sandman said...

And San Francisco follows suit.

Interesting stat:
CHI points allowed 1st half: 0, SF points allowed 2nd half: 0

Enter Sandman said...

And now here's C. Palmer, at his own 17 with 19 seconds left. Let's see if he can produce something Elway-esque.

Enter Sandman said...

Or not.

(:13) (Shotgun) C.Palmer sacked at CIN 18 for -5 yards (P.Kerney). FUMBLES (P.Kerney), RECOVERED by ATL-M.Boley at CIN 25. M.Boley to CIN 25 for no gain (E.Ghiaciuc). {The sack is for 0 yards, as the ball was recovered beyond the line of scrimmage}

Ouch.

Enter Sandman said...

Seattle's Senaca Wallace now gets his chance at a two minute drill for the tie.

Enter Sandman said...

While Larry Johnson comes up with this ridiculous line: 181 total yards, 4 TD's.

Enter Sandman said...

And the Raiders game is underway!!!

Laser Stream said...

Woot! Raiders-Steelers! What a matchup!

Enter Sandman said...

Indy starts fast with two big pass plays.

Enter Sandman said...

As Denver has just given up what I believe is the most yards from scrimmage on one play so far this year (27 yards).

That too.. on a busted pass play.

Timeout on the field.

Enter Sandman said...

So... Z. Crockett gets the start for Oakland.

Enter Sandman said...

Denver comes up with the stop. Now it's up to Mr. Plummer to engineer a 90 yard drive.

Laser Stream said...

Tomlinson: 2 TDs in less than 12 minutes.

Laser Stream said...

F. Washington intercepted B. Roethlisberger for no gain.

But the guy can WIN!!

Enter Sandman said...

Indy so far: 2 penalties/20 yards

Enter Sandman said...

Randy Moss drops an easy catch... This after 4 drops last week.

Laser Stream said...

Walter's been sacked 3 times, and the first quarter isn't half over.

Laser Stream said...

M. Bulger sacked by S. Merriman

Nice job, Merroids.

Laser Stream said...

Nnamdi Asomugha intercepted Ben Roethlisberger for 24 yards (Sebastian Janikowski made PAT)

Well, Walter and his 3 sacks have outplayed Roethlisberger and his sack and 2 INTs. What a matchup.

Enter Sandman said...

Meanwhile, a big 3rd and 6 coming up for Indy on the fringes of FG range.

Enter Sandman said...

And Manning converts.

Enter Sandman said...

Indy penalty watch: 4/40 yards

Enter Sandman said...

Indianapolis strikes first: 3-0.

Denver D giving up a whole bunch of yards thus far.

Enter Sandman said...

J. Addai: 6 rush, 35 yds. That's an impressive start against this Broncos rush defense.

Enter Sandman said...

T. Bell: 2 rush, 4 yds. That's not.

Enter Sandman said...

Jake Plummer goes up top... to David Kircus. 45 yards on the play.

Enter Sandman said...

Ind penalty watch: 5/55 yds.

Enter Sandman said...

Denver continues its impressive drive upfield... On both its posessions so far it has faced first down from its own 10.

Enter Sandman said...

Interesting how Tatum didn't get a goalline carry...

Enter Sandman said...

I bet if one were to be at Invesco right now, one's ears would not be too happy.

Laser Stream said...

Battle of defensive prowess, or offensive futility? You decide!

Enter Sandman said...

Manning continues to pick apart this Denver secondary... is another Champ Bailey goalline pick in store?

Enter Sandman said...

Well. Denver's end zone is definitely difficult to get into. Manning and crew denied for the 3rd straight time.

Enter Sandman said...

At the half:
Broncos 14, Colts 6
Broncos 47 rush yds, Colts 45
Broncos 128 pass yds, Colts 132
Plummer 2 TD's, Manning 0 TD's
Plummer QBr: 133.9
Manning QBr: 99.0

Interesting.

Enter Sandman said...

A 50 yard kickoff return for Oakland. Cowher can't be too pleased.

Enter Sandman said...

Roethlisberger QBr: 36.1
Walters QBr: 43.8

Enter Sandman said...

Art Shell... you are reaching Dennis Green levels of stupidity. Calling back to back pass plays on 2nd and 3rd down from the 1 yards line!?

Run the ball!!!

Enter Sandman said...

S. Merriman: 5 Tackles, 3 Sacks.

A week ago, I would have thought that impressive. No longer.

Enter Sandman said...

Nick Harper injured for the Colts... Plummer already ripped apart the Indy secondary on the long passes in the first half. This can only hurt.

Enter Sandman said...

And Indy starts with great field position.

Enter Sandman said...

And Ernster got a miserable 26 yards net on that last punt.

Enter Sandman said...

3 straight passes towards Champ Bailey.. he's broken up two.

Enter Sandman said...

Manning finds the end zone with ridiculous efficiency.

Enter Sandman said...

Odd decision by Dungy not to go for two here. Addai's looked awesome all game.

Enter Sandman said...

Big false start penalty on Matt Lepsis' replacement, Erik Pears.

Enter Sandman said...

Tatum Bell also mysteriously missing from action.

Enter Sandman said...

Big momentum shift as Indy gains possession at the Denver 12.

Enter Sandman said...

Wow. Broncos with an 8:54, 14 play, 91 yard drive. Good stuff.

This has turned out to be quite a game. 4th quarter we go: DEN 21, IND 20.

Enter Sandman said...

Probably the biggest play of the game so far upcoming: 3rd down for Indy.

Enter Sandman said...

And Manning converts yet again.

Guy is just unreal.

Enter Sandman said...

Another big third down: 3rd and 1 from the Denver 30... on the fringes of field goal range.

Enter Sandman said...

And finally, Denver stops the third down conversion.

46 yd FG? or 4th down try?

Enter Sandman said...

48 yard field goal, actually, and it's good.

23-21.

Enter Sandman said...

Mike Bell having himself an awesome ground performance.

28-23. What a game...

Enter Sandman said...

Manning... wow.

Enter Sandman said...

1-10-OAK 45 (1:32) B.Roethlisberger pass short right to [] to PIT 37 for 8 yards (F.Washington).

"[]" eh?

Enter Sandman said...

HUGE 3rd and 9 coming up for Denver.

This is the game right here.

Enter Sandman said...

Elam good from 49.

31-31...

Enter Sandman said...

Hahaha:

2-13-OAK 33 (5:37) A.Walter pass short middle intended for J.Porter INTERCEPTED by J.Porter (D.Townsend) at OAK 47. J.Porter to OAK 40 for 7 yards (J.Porter).

Enter Sandman said...

And a tough loss for Denver as Mr. Winner wins it for Indy.

Laser Stream said...

1st-4, Oakland 4
B. Roethlisberger passed to N. Washington to the right for 49 yard gain

The best play of this game, and the clock runs out. Game over. That was pathetic.
